Kevlar definately would help abrasion & impact resistance on your kayaks bottom. If you were going to use it on the outside, I would recommend using a 6 oz kevlar cloth with a layer of 6 oz fiberglass cloth on top to aid in future refinishing (kevlar is impossible to sand and get a nice finish.)
