In Response To: Fastening deck on CLC Ches 17... (Roger Donahe)

Hi Roger,

Good Luck! I tried installing my deck sans ring nails and it was a %itch! I used duct tape every 6-8" and bungies stretched under the keel and hooked on both sides of the deck. I might also add I used doorskins for my deck rather than the CLC recommended 4mm Okoume. (and the doorkskins were more flexible than the 4mm I used for my hull.) I ended up using paneling nails, which have ringshanks, but are a lot finer, and just have a tiny head. If you get paneling nails that are about the same color as the finished deck, they are unnoticeable if you're more than 2' away.
