I followed CLC instructions to build a mincell foam seat for my Chesapeake 17. I originally planned to paddle for some time to find the best location for attachment. However I found it useful to move the seat every so often to aviod sitting in one position too long. So I now prefer to have the foam just sit unattached on the cockpit floor. try this first ....you can always glue later.

Best of luck KM
