The Forum Slide Show

So, I got the slide show working. I've placed it on a couple different pages. The slideshow currently shows a randomly selected set of 10 images at a time. There are more than 10 images available, and the next time you refresh the page a different selection of 10 images will be displayed.

You can add images to the slide show by following this link: Add Slide Show Image. It will have you upload an image and ask for a description. You can only add an image if you are a registered user.

Please include a short Title with your name and what the picture is of, for example "Your Name - Kayak Name" or "Your Name - Milling Strips"

Images must be a minimum of 950 x 355 pixels. That is the dimensions they will be cropped to to fit in the slide show. Smaller images will not be accepted, larger images will be scaled down. If the images are larger and not of that same proportion (950:355) they will be automatically cropped to the center of the image. The best results are if you crop your own images to the specified size.

Please be kind to my server storage and keep the images as small as possible

After uploading your image you will be asked for "Alternative Text:". You can add basic info such as "Wooden kayak on a beach" or "Wiring a stitch and glue kayak" or just repeat your title. This is useful for search engines.

Please describe the picture. Provide any information you would be interested to know if you were seeing it for the first time.

For example: boat design, construction method, special details, what you are doing, where the photo was taken, interesting facts, etc.

I think I have changed the authors of all the existing images in the slide show to their originators. So, you should be able to modify the title, description or re-upload an edited image to get the cropping better.

I did not include all the images originally submitted either because they weren't big enough or the automatic cropping was not desirable. If you submitted an image earlier and don't see your image coming up in the rotation, feel free to submit it again.

I reserve the right to delete any image for any reason. I don't expect this to be abused, but it is possible someone takes liberties with this feature and I may have to have a policy change.

Nigh Heron with custom deck

I recently complete a refurbishment of my Night Heron built back in 2012...which was looking quite beat up.

This night heron has served me well and paddles beautifully...especially for distance work.   The hull is the original design per Nick's drawings.  And the deck is custom to take some queues from the Petrel....and to fit me and my paddling style which needs a bit of knee bend.

As i mentioned in the title, the boat was pretty beat up and the glass had been repaired multiple times and was really not salvageable any as part of this project, we commissioned Joey Schott of Turning Point Boat works to pull all the old e-glass glass off, re-stain it with a new redder color (behlens Blood Red) and  re-skin it with 4 oz s-glass.   from there i took over with five coats of varnish and new rigging.

other features of this boat include a skeg kit from superior kayaks and soft-loop rigging.   the colored bungee is 'neon green' and provides a nice 'snap' against the dark red.

anyway, with a bit of love, amazing how these boats can keep on going.
