I have volunteered to complete the above kayak for the family of a man who died before he finished the construction. He stripped and glassed the outside of the hull, and stripped the deck, but that was a far as he got. I've made 7 cedar strip kayaks and a cedar strip canoe, so I'm okay with how to do this, but need some information first. The family did not find his plans. I need to know the locations for the coamings and the hatches, especially the coamings. Can anyone tell me how far from the bow or stern the rear of each coaming is? The size and location of the hatch cut outs would also help, but is not critical. I like Nick's method of making a cockpit recess but can't do that until I know where to put the cockpits.

The Reliance was one of the 'free' plans in the Ted Moores KayakCraft book (a very useful book for any builder; I recommend it highly.)

Thanks John. I tried them three days ago. I have not yet had a reply, but hopefully soon.

schematic scan
Thanks for the scan. It won't be as exact as an actual measurement, but since the stations are shown I can estimate within a couple of cm. That should do me fine.
