Securite

The safety signal SECURITE is used to indicate that the calling station has an message pertaining to navigation or weather.

A SECURITE call is appropriate if there is a problem that others should be warned of.

1. Make sure the radio is ON.
2. Select Channel 16
3. Press/hold the Transmit Button
4. Clearly say SECURITE  SECURITE  SECURITE
5. ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS
6. THIS IS

   * Vessel name and/or description (not more than three times)

   * SAFETY MESSAGE CONCERNING location TO FOLLOW ON CHANNEL channel number (not 16)

   * Vessel name and/or description (once)

7. OUT
8. Release Transmit Button

This is followed by the same form of message on the specified channel.

Example:

On Channel 16:

SECURITE  SECURITE  SECURITE
ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS
THIS IS SEA KAYAK JOE, SEA KAYAK JOE, SEA KAYAK JOE
SAFETY MESSAGE CONCERNING Port Davis harbour entrance TO FOLLOW ON CHANNEL zero six
SEA KAYAK JOE OUT.

Then, on Channel 06:

SECURITE  SECURITE  SECURITE
ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS  ALL STATIONS
THIS IS SEA KAYAK JOE, SEA KAYAK JOE, SEA KAYAK JOE
