As far as kayakwiki is concerned, the term "instruction" refers to the act of transmitting information about kayaking. Many instructors choose to be certified by organizations such as the ACA, BCU, CRCA and others.

Great paddlers are not necessarily the best instructors; and great instructors aren't always the best paddlers. A great instructor is someone who has the ability to explain techniques to a student in a manner that the individual best understands.

Remember - the first way you were taught was not necessarily the right way. Be prepared to learn new things and to learn new ways to do old things. Those who tend to be the best paddlers are those who never stop learning.
