Conneticut River Info

Does anyone have sources of information on the Conneticut River. My parents live in Hanover NH near the Conneticut and I have a summer home right on Long Island sound where the river empties out in Old Saybrook Conneticut. It has always fascinated me that these two places that I frequent are connected by this river across 3 states and (100-200 Miles ?).

I have been thinking about taking a trip from Hanover to Old Saybrook this summer and wondered if someone has a source of the following info.

1. General info or a guide to the river

2. Potential navigational hazzards: dams or rapids that need to be portaged

around.

3. Availability of camping sights

4. Any thoughts about how long this might take. How many miles a day is reasonable going down stream.

5. Points of interest. I have explored some of the Conneticut River near Old Saybrook and Old Lyme but know nothing of it's northern stretches in New Hampshire and Mass.

Manny Thanks

Jack
