Kayak Paddles

Hi. I was thinking about making a couple of different kayak paddles over the winter months. There are a couple of blade types that I had in mind. I was wondering if I could instead of making each whole paddle, that I would just make the one shaft and make the blades interchangable. Has anyone tried this.?? What are the ins & outs of doing this.?? Cheers Don
