Lake Huron North Channel

I just bought Bill Newman's paddling guide to lakes Huron, Erie and Ontario today, and devoured it as soon as I got home, despite all the millennium babble on the TV.

Anyway, I'm taking a hard look at Georgian Bay and the North Channel for next summers big trip. I've taken a look at a couple of pretty good websites about sailing up there (check out http://www.continuouswave.com ) but haven't been able to find out much about kayaking up there. The big question I have in my mind is how do you find out where camping is permitted, and where it isn't. Anyone got any ideas?

BTW, in spite of the general freezeup around here, my kayaking buddy did find some open water, so it looks like a New Year's Day paddle tomorrow. In other words, a fix that probably won't hold me till spring.
