Kayaking while Traveling

Question: Anyone ever try to go kayaking while on trips without your kayaks?
With the weather in the 70-80 range now, San Diego is a nice place for winter kayaking but I find kayaking alone is not much fun. I have two sea kayaks and am working on a Guillemot Double and would enjoy a slow easy paddle around one of my favorite lakes, bays or near the shore.
