John Rehmert sent me some additional info on Baltimore Harbor. Thought you folks might also find it interesting. Thanks John!

I did some research on this on the 'Net' to try and find out the real scoop. The story is pretty fascinating as it turns out as to what really is sitting today in Baltimore's Harbor. There are claims that the original Constellation, a frigate, was taken to the Navy Yard in Virginia to be razed and converted into a "first class sloop-of-war, and will be otherwise throughout and extensively repaired..."

On the other hand, there are claims that the ship now sitting in Baltimore harbor was all new construction and the 'repair' was to cover up and slip by a Congressional prohibition on new ship construction.

The Navy seems to think some of the timbers were used from the original construction.

Which seems to go against at least one of the guy's who worked on her restoration had to say: "In addition, in the course of disassembling the vessel for the repair, we have found absolutely no evidence of any material that predates 1853."

If you want to go on an adventure, I encourage you to go seek out the history on this ship. And just to really mess up everyone's understanding of the ship, here is a link that says the ship was restored to look like a frigate:

P.S. Just for the record, my DeLorme Street Atlas program lists it as a frigate.
