Hope alls been well. Its funny that you mention that thing about fat being metabolized and such as it brought up a question I've had about eating versus paddeling performance. I DO know that with bicycling anyway that with a heart rate over 65% at a duration going beyond two hours, some form of carbohydrate replenishment is needed - seriously so. Exceding the two hour mark with out sugar replacement allows the glycogen to be depleted causing what cyclist refer to as the "BONK". If youve hit this point, your essentially down for the day and any exercise beyond that point is just protracted misery. Your tired, easil;y irritated, depressed etc etc. While paddeling is usually a more relaxed practice than cycling, Id imagine at some point or another, especiually on a week long tour, glycogen depletion has GOT to be an issue sooner or later.Oddly enough tho, Ive never heard anyone mention anything about it!!!!
Geepers.... I guess this belongs in the techniques folder. Perhaps my glycogen stores are low!!
