TNX, Woddy, I enjoy your narratives. In Putnam county, NY, most of the water is owned by New York City, not usable by canoes or kayaks. We do have some Taconic Park controlled waters, available for a small yearly registration. I usually end up close to home in the Patterson Great Swamp. The East Branch of the Croton River meanders 7-8 miles through the GS from Rte 311 in Patterson, down past Pine Hill ( a must stop), under Rte 22 to Green Chimneys School. The school has some public funding and allows use of their parking and launch site to respecting paddlers. As the seasons change, also does the water level, from meandering creek to broad flooded areas a shallow draft boat can navigate (not much room to roll, though). So, most of my paddling is there, awed by the changes from one trip to the next. Travel now done in a former rental closeout Walden Vista. Nice boat, stand off and see a Schade-y influence to the lines. Your escapades and general influence of the Kbbs will get my own wooden boat closer to the water. TNX, Scotty
