Was looking for a sea kayak last fall(98) and seen Nick's book. That's when i got the bug to build my own. That first trip, a short 6 miles with a temporary seat, no footpegs or any other outfitting, my skill set consisted of so-so edging for small waves and a forward stroke that depended more on brute strength then technique. With a lot of help and tips from more experinced paddlers and proper outfitting of my Gboat, I find that i am confident in larger waves, can go longer, faster and harder, edge for waves without looking at them and still on occasion make a goofy move that puts me in the drink. I find that the more I learn, the more I realize that there is a ot more to learn. You provide a lot of others, including myself with inspiration. Keep up the great trip reports and I hope to meet you and all the others that make this BBS a great place to go on the water sometime.Greg Steeves
