My "JAWS" paranoia manifested itself in my daily swimming in long island sound. I was 13 at the time, and blessed with a Mom who took all six kids to the beach EVERY summer day - unless it rained. At that age, swimming was a total addiction, so not even a movie could disuade me. Still, when practicing my "American Crawl" [swimming lessons] I continually opened my eyes underwater looking for the lunge "out of the green" of a shark - any damn shark! I went back in the water, I was just open eyed underneath it afterward - well more so than i had been.

I thought the sequels were assenine - as most sequels turn out to be. At any rate, perhaps if I had lived of Katama Beach, Marthas Vineyard, I'd probably wouldve stayed outta the water and in a tidal pool!
