Pete,

Get the book Deep Trouble, it has stories from Sea Kayaker Magazine. There is a story in it about a Great White attack south of San Francisco. This one is apparently true too.

The book will get you thinking about lots of other dangers too.

As far as the author of your story kayaking again, have you ever seen the movie The World According To Garp, with Robin Williams? In it Garp (Williams) and his wife are looking at a house that they might buy when a plane crashes into it. His wife tells the real estate agent that they are no longer interested in the house. Garps response is, " Are you nuts, of course we want this house. Do you know what the chances of a plane hitting this house again are? We buy this house and that is one disaster that we will not have to worry about ever again!" (Or something to this effect.)

I imagine her outlook on life will decide if she kayaks again. I think I will take an extra pair of underwear just in case this happens to me!!!
