You don't have to go the 'full monty' on the sailing rig.

There are one's that simply strap on so no modifications are necessary//

Quite a few sailers simply use it for an extra 'push' so they can go a little longer which sounds like what you want. Or as insurance for when you tire out.

Try it with the current boat. That way you can plan ahead on your next craft.
