> Pete ,It's 6:20pm, the sun's setting to my left, narrow marsh creek flooding from left , light house about a mile to the right. Ocean waves few hundred yards behind me. Slide into creek ,hint of sulforous decay came and went. Chilling breeze brings aroma from tops of reeds. Paddling steadily against current up narrow channel, around and under empty vacation home docks. Out to main channel, doubling back north towards lighthouse, can't figure out what's an island, channel or marsh, so just paddle against the current. Sun's down behind me,forward looking through the tall grass a shiny gold shape is next to the lighthouse, looks like some distant gold disco gambling boat, or flattened mylar balloon nearby. Didn't think about it,paddling steadily, breeze is up. Looked again, It truly is a gold moon. I've seen red, orange, brown, yellow, but shimmering gold is something different. Moving towards a bend , gentle eddies, staying near the edge, a dorsal fin in left field. ! looking back there it is again ,easy see saw, up and down. About two boat lengths back. Around the bend the current pulls the bow to the left as I round the point, no more fin to the left but out in the channel to the right there are four more, two up,two down, two up,two down, gone , three up. The moon is no longer gold , just huge , bright , thick as the lighthouse. Can't see things on the horizon, current is a little stronger than 10-15kt breeze. Time to turn around and fly back in the dark wind. Dusk landmarks make no sense at night. Bow rudder around bends, slide over reeds, shoot past docks. sounds of water guide, blinding moon.
