> several places to get out and stretch along the way.I'd have to agree with everyone else--I consider myself reasonably fit, but the longest I've ever been in a kayak was 11 nautical miles, with 2 stops along shore, but I didn't get out. If you do it, make darn sure your legs don't fall asleep in your boat!!

If I owned a srimp boat, you could be my captain, Lieutenant Dan! ..er...if I were on a shrimp boat crew, I'd definitely give a guy in a funny-looking rubber suit and his tippy-looking long, narrow boat a ride out into the deep, if he bribed me with a moderate sum of cash and beer.
If you're contemplating paddling out by yourself, expect to put in a lot of time in the boat, getting competent and comfortable in any situation. If you can't wait that long, go for the bribe. But having good boat handling skills would still be a good idea on the open ocean.
