Actually,
You'd be surprised at the "accidental's" we get up the east coast. In the last 15 years, in long island sound theres been a Beluga [eventually shot by some jerk with a .22 -very tragic - the fisherman loved the whale!], and a Manatee. I believe Harbor Seals are local too, but Ive never ever seen one in the wild. Under the water the story is even more exotic. Every spring the gulfstream brings up accidentals in the way of colorful tropical fish carried up from the caribbean. They can be seen sometimes while snorkeling - rarely tho. You know it tho when you see it. Sadly, every winter the gulfstream carries them up to nova scotia etc where they freeze to death - which is sad because by that time they are a fair size too. Another wonderful sight are the mermaids that can be spotted along the coast at various sandy shores.
