All through school it was pounded into my head that smoking was bad for me. Now, as I went to public school I assume this was the experience of the vast majority of my generation. A few years ago an old classmate told me that he never would have started smoking if he had known it was bad for him?!?! It was then that I realized that I am the only living being on this planet and everyone else is just a droid put here to to mess with my mind.
Back on topic, I find that many people can't put several past experiences together to arrive at a conclusionas to what is likely to happen if they follow their present course. Something like " I went in the water last week and almost drowned because I never paid attention during the swimming lessons that my parents paid for when I was a kid and now I am going to try this kayaking thing which is in really deep water and in a tippy little boat so, I think I will leave my lifejacket on the beach."
Here is another idea, all these automobile accidents that seem to be happening just can't be allowed to continue, why people are getting hurt and some are even dying. We should tell the government that this must stop and they will put speed limits up and crosswalk signs and make all sorts of rules and regulations about intersections and make us get our cars inspected. I bet within 6 months there won't be another traffic accident. Just think of all the lifes we will save.
But I guess governments are like people and will continue regulate things no matter what past experience shows.
Ain't life strange?
