Although I do think the best action in this case is to tell everyone you can about the experience and the quality of the guide company, I disagree that a guide's job is that of a babysitter for adults.
Kids need babysitters because they have not yet aquired the skills to assess situations and manage risk. Somewhere along the line adults have to take this step and hiding behind the excuse "I was told it was safe", doesn't work.
I think it is better not to blindly put your trust into anyone (or anything) just because they say they are an expert. By all means listen and learn from their experience, but use your own common sense to decide what is best for you. If anything goes wrong you have no one to blame but yourself, and that is the reason we were all in such a hurry to become adults!
