: Clearly, emulsion films while not going extinct are going to fall more and
: more into the hands of the arts/exhibit crowd. And damn, say goodbye to
: costly development fees!!

I'm already considering that idea, Pete. I've been taking pix using both SLR and digital, although my digital is a cheapie HP I bought for $ 120 cdn. I can just imagine what a decent digital will do. I love the fact that I can save gazillions of pix on one card and delete the ones I don't like. This will serve me extremely well when I finally get up into the Hudson Bay area in two years. Even better with digital photography, I can take them in and develop them in the traditional way if I so like and I do. There's nothing like having a coffee and browsing a photo album.

: I'd say double dry bag it. I have costly spotting scope equipment I look
: forward to carrying in my hatches - but its going to be a double dry bag
: only deal. Even an inital hefty bag around the drag to prevent direct
: sloshing of water seeping into it.

Double bagging it will certainly work. I had some moisture problems during hte first leg of my trip with siongle dry bags that leaked. The best bag I bought was not the heavy rubber or vinyl bags, they were the nylon bags with the heavy rubber coating on the inside. Not only did they keep my clothes dry, the tops are easy to fold over and buckle up. Incidently, my watertight compartment didn't fit my SLR after I installed a support frame for the watertight lid. I ended up using the compartment for storing my digital camera and daily snacks. I have to modify the compartment to get it to accept the SLR. I left my SLR on the floor of the yak between my knees resting on the foam I use for my feet. The foam basically covers the entire floor of the cockpit and floats above any water that gets in. Thank god I got a new spray skirt before I left on the first part of the trip, I hit enough WW that I would have been flooded out with the old holey spray skirt.
