In Response To: Quadra Island Trip Observations (Byron Lawrence)

Thanks for what appears to be a fairly even-handed review of a trip that had some of the potential makings of a tragedy.

Here on the East Coast I've had the good fortune to go on single and multi day trips with several tour companies. My impressions have been uniformly positive. Both companies had first rate equipment, gave good instruction, tailored their trips to the paddler's abilities, and had a high guide to client ratio. The one company that supplied food and camping equipment did a top notch job there too.

So it is possible to have excellent experiences on commercial trips. I'd rather not mention names in the context of this discussion of a bad trip, but if anyone is interested they can contact me by e-mail.
