When my daughter is along I stow it behind my seat until she gets tired (If she sees me wear it before hand she is more apt to ask for a tow before she needs it). If she isn't on the trip and I have it along just in case an adult becomes ill, I stow it in my rear hatch (I can still get to my rear hatch from my cockpit).

A little, if by get in the way you mean does it touch my rudder. It doesn't seem to affect how my rudder operates in any way, even though it does rest against one side or the other.

There is a caribiner on the end of the rope. I just clip it in to her carrying tiggle on the bow of her boat.
> What kind of rope?
Not sure what it is made of. It isn't like the yellow polly ropes you see. It looks more like a woven cotten but it floats.

Not sure, Maybe 25'?

Yep, it is called the "Sea-Tow" by Salamander. Normally worn around the waist but it does have a loop you can use it to attach to your kayak if you wish.
The big disadvantage is you have to remember to air it out so it can dry once it is wet....
