Good report!

I would like to comment about the virtues of paddling in the rain. I too wear glasses, and that is a pain, however it is worth the minor annoyance.

The sound of rain falling into the water is different from any other sound. It makes a sparkling hiss which is much softer than the dull splats you get from rain falling on a roof.

The rain beats the surface of the water flat. If the surface had been rough, within a few minutes the water will smooth and calm.

Get out there in a summer rain and experience it.
