> off.I hate wasting money on Gucci-esque gear, but... I was using a baseball cap with a hanky pinned on the back as a drape until last year. My wife bought me one of those fancy ($30?) kayaking hats. It has an extralong bill that is black on the underside to reduce glare. It's cool mesh with a reflective foil liner for sun protection. The drape has velcro at the bottom so it can cover around your neck or fasten behind. It detaches with velcro at the top for evening paddles. It has a chinstrap for wind. It's the best piece of equipment I own and worth whatever it cost.
