Hooking up with other paddlers

I am new to this group, but an active paddler. I live in central NC and would like to hook up with other paddlers. I am willing to travel a couple of hundred miles to do so, say, to the coast.
Look, give me a buzz. I am a strong paddler and would like to do more open water crossings in the range of 3-5 miles. I have been paddling for 3 years and have paddled 1-2 times per week for the past 6 months.
Hope to hear from some serious paddlers.
