Re: gear. I like to take a small candle lantern because it takes little space, I can store three extra candles in the lantern body, and it provides some cheer on a damp summer night. I use them in my tent by placing the lantern on the floor in one of my cooking pots for safety. This acts as a reflector and also prevents the candle from tipping over onto the tent floor. I also take a small waterproof flashlight for use walking around the site. The most useful thing I have found in many camping trips in Ontario is a lightweight bug jacket. If you get one large enough, you can pull your food inside and eat in comfort! Done that several times. Rainwear is also essential as we can get some ferocious thunderstorms. Forgot to mention, when packing the candle lantern, it goes inside my thermo mug. Anyone else have any neat packing tips for small items?
