Hi Rick, me again!
Okay, I read every story on the Wavelength website, and I also picked up Island Paddling by Snowden, and Sea Kayaking Canada's West Coast by Inde and Kottner. I am thinking about putting in at Anacortes or Bremerton, WA and paddling through the San Juans and Southern Gulf Islands to either Sidney or Chemainus (sp?). Is this do-able in 6-7 days? I am an experienced lake kayaker with a solid roll, I've paddled moving rivers and eddies, but I've never been in the ocean. (Not that the Georgia Strait is the actual open ocean, but it does have tides, small swells, current, etc.) Do you think I'm considering something over my head? I've been reading maps and the longest crossing is ~4 nmi from the farthest east San Juan island to Saturna or South Pender.
Also, how is the area for crabbing and fishing from a kayak?
