Hi Dan, I tried to get this discussion going on the Techniques BBS, but it didn't happen. Below is the link to a very comprehensive gear list that I found on SW Sea Kayaks' site:
As for clothing, go with good synthetics. Polarfleece 200 & 300 are really warm, and when they get wet, shake them a couple times really hard, and hang them to dry for 5 minutes. They dry that fast! As for lighter layers, polartec micro-chamois is good, and even lighter: anything made of supplex is good for keeping the sun and wind off your skin, is relatively cool, and dries fast too.
If you like sitting around the campfire at night, but don't want to bother with all that wood, etc. but still don't want to retire for the night, then I'd recommend a gas lantern. Otherwise, you'll eat up a lot of headlamp batteries. (Unless you like stargazing, which isn't a bad thing either!) Probably a good thing would be to have a lantern that operates on the same fuel as the stove you choose.
