I borrowed the in-laws Chrysler Voyager last summer when we went to the coast. With my pads on the top, the boat rode fine. I'm not sure it's as big as the ful-size fords and chevys, but it did pretty well with the V6, both mileage (about 20) and power wise. It would pull a small trailer.
I use an old F-250 pickup, it costs 19 cents a mile to run. Fortunately I dont drive it enough to justify buying a better one. Lifting the boat up is not that hard, I liift it over my head with both arms, hands flat on the bottom at the balance point, and one end sitting on the rear pad to stabilise it. Then slide it forward. The newer ones get a little better mileage.
