: john, looking again at your photo of the KEBT (Kayak emergency breathing tube) from a snorkle/tube:
1. it looks like the snorkle had a water valve to prevent water from getting in the tube, maybe this could be put on the end of the KEBT, although in practice i have never had a problem eliminating water from my KEBT, same as going under water with a regular snorkle.
2. it also looks like you cut off the accordian part of the snorkle where it attached to the mouthpiece. if the mouthpiece goes to a flex-accordian piece before the tygon it allows unidirection with is usefull; i dont know if you can still attach the accordian part.
3. if your spray skirt is so tight as to be dangerous you should probably get a new one.
