I certainly don't envy him, but his suffering is not going to bring back the kids who died due to his incompetence.

Do you have any different information about the accident? If not, what's your complaint.

No one is questioning his motives or his love for kids, just his judgement and competence as a kayak/canoe guide. They are entirely separate things. As the saying goes: "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." I suspect that the guide in question is living in his own personal Hell.
