: Do you know anything about the Aguanaut RM? It's suppose to have a foam core
: that makes it stiff as composite boats with only a marginal weight
: increase.
Forgive the late response- I am a bit of a Luddite, and have a dislike/hate relationship with computors.
Anyway, I have paddled the Aquanaut, but briefly and not in conditions. My impression is that I would like to take it out for more, because I really felt like it had great potential- maybe even better than my old NDK.
But the Aquanaut RM is shorter, and I do not know how to compare. IMO, boats available in plastic and composite often have different handling personalities, as the hulls are rarely exactly the same. I know of one boat that I actually like better in plastic! The stiffness of the Aquanaut RM, plus the welded bulkheads (when will NoAmerican manafacturers learn!) makes it a good bet.
Ah, well, get a good price and the color you want, save money if you can, and get a really good paddle.
Good luck, let us all know what you get, and tell us about the maiden voyage.karl
