There do seem to be some such fora, though probably not national in
scope. I seem to remember getting quite a bit if useful info about
the Marlborough Sounds from one such forum - possibly the Wellington
Sea Kayak Network, though I'm not certain of that - my history has expired
the URL ...

One thing that really irritates people is being given a URL that just leads
to a page with a link to the real page saying "enter ..." Maybe its just a
cultural thing, but I like to have the actual URL which will get me started
and not one which gratuitously takes up a slot in my browser history and some
space in my cache.
