: The inner tube analogy is misleading at best. A inner tube is nearly 100%
: sponson, your boat floatation is more like 5%.Hi Brian,
I think you pulled 5% out of the air. Actually this kayak is closer to the 100% you mentioned rather then 5% because the floatation is around the entire perimeter and heavy in the ends. Because of this I picture this boat paddling in a stable manner when partly submerged under water. I know this is a concern of your because of your serf experiences.
I do appreciate your critiques but we are at loggerheads on this one until I can hit the water and prove, or disprove this. I do understand that you are quite skilled in kayaks and have the advantage of kayaking in surfs that I will never have. But I can find rough water in my area as I used to go sailing when tornado forecast were out in our area to experience the best winds to sail my cat in. I can’t match surf but I can match conditions that most people are not likely to be in most of the time. But I will start with my pond to test the basics and a shakeout, and then to a couple of lakes I have already set up with friends and cameras to go to. If all of this works out then I will wait for tornado weather for the big test.
You were an inspiration while I was building in my floatation because I put in just a extra floatation I call the Brian factor.
John
