Malcolm--

I've seen (and used) heated meals that were surplus MRE's from Iraq. Like yours, I added water to a chemical pouch. And like you I wondered what the hell was in the pouch. They worked pretty well--steaming hot foods.

Anyone have any idea what is in the heater pouches and what responsible disposal of them entails?
