It's a kit kayak, yep, you have to build it, for $1300 CDN, comes in a complete kit, you can build it within 4-months of dedicated effort, one month if you know what you are doing and have lots of time, and can carry enough equipment for a couple of weeks of roaming around.

If you want fast, forget plastic. Composite's are expensive. That is why I suggest building. See the link. That's all I can suggest.

Note: I have paddled the 18. It has been proven to be faster than one of the fastest touring yaks made by a competitive racer. Donnie (@ WD) can fill you in on the details.
