Inexcusable...and with a motorized boat available?

In Response To: Another tragedy of poor preparation? (Gary)

The disappointing aspect of this tragedy is that there was help available but it wasn't utilized in sensible time. I don't understand how two kids could die in such a manner. When the water started to pile up the responsible person in the motorized craft should have pulled everyone together immediately. The other thought is, of course, a wondering consideration as to exactly how well the kids were prepped for such a trip. It's my guess that they weren't prepped very well. The Gulf of Mexico is warm, how long would it have taken the kids to succumb to hypothermia? Anyone know?

I get red in the neck hearing stories like this. I can't sit here and say the kids had it coming to them. I'm wondering about the responsible adults. Grrrr
