Fanning the flames, eh Jed?

: Risto,
: I found your desciption of this handle and it's uses fascinating. You're
: ability to adapt a seemingly simple handle, rescue it from the landfill
: and adapt it to allow you to perform such a technical skill is admirable.
: That Brian would call attention away from your use of this handle and
: focus on the line feels like classic redirection to me. Who cares if it's
: "generally refered to as a painter" and why are we calling these
: things lines anyway. The whole world calls a rope a rope, but Brian is
: again trying to divert attention away from the fact that the discussion is
: about ropes when he starts using alternate terms like "line" for
: simple objects like "rope".If you read my follow-up, you'll see that I wasn't trying to "redirect" anything. The thread was about deck lines and safety, and I was focussing on that. Your attempts at psychoanalysis of my posts really do get tedious at times. Take the words at face value; I have no hidden agenda. The world is not one big conspiracy, Jed.
Call it "rope", "cord", "line" or whatever suits your fancy. We all know that the terms are essentially interchangeable in the present context.
: I can clearly see that the handle is a major improvement over the bare rope
: grip and if the handle were long enough, you may be able to completely
: eliminate the rope alltogether! What will he comment on then, the bracket
: used to hold the handle on? Keep up the good fight!Oh, brother...
