Speaking of paddle length

: 245 cm"? i'd think you want to be paddling a 220 or so. have you tried a
: shorter paddle?I agree, a 220cm is probably a better choice. I have the same paddle in glass (220cm). I did find the flutter when I first got the paddle, while paddling hard only. It has since disappeared. I think it takes getting used to. I really like this paddle but, I keep wanting a shorter paddle. My paddling style in my 21" wide Guillemot Expedition is at about eye level, and fairly close to the boat. With my 220cm paddle I bury the shaft 4-5" on each side. I have an old aluminun shaft-plastic blade paddle that I have been cutting down a few iches every year, starting at 235cm. This year I reshaped the blades to the shape of the Lightning std. shape and cut the OAL to 200cm. It seems to work great so far.
My question: Lightning sells a take a part attachment. I would like to reduce the length of my paddle by installing the TAP. How short can I go and not run into other problems and will the TAP adpt. weaken this great paddle very much. I would also like to change the feather. It is now 75 deg R. I would like something like 60-65 deg. R, any comments
Thanks,Larry C.
