I urge you to get other opinions on Kevlar! Its primary purpose is to afford strength without added weight, but its not bomb proof...or bullet proof in this form used for kayaks. I had a plastic boat fall off my truck at 40 mph! It scuffed the bow, that's it...it would have shattered a kevlar or glass boat. They are durable, but hard to fix. They also tend to sag in the heat (on a rack, etc). Proper care and they do ok for what they are: heavy, inexpensive alternatives to more expensive, sleeker kayaks. For a first kayak, you'd be OK. I am 6'6" and fit in the Storm OK. if you are a stout 6'tall you may want to consider removing the molded thigh braces from the cockpit...you get more room and can still brace against the sides. Something to consider.
: I bet you'll get ton's of responces to your questions.
: I am not familiar with the boats you listed, but I wanted to reply any way
: and correct one comment you made. Plastic boats are not more durable than
: glass boats. If its durability you want, then buy a kevlar boat.: Paddling without trying is risky, but I understand that sometimes there is
: not choice but to do so. Good luck.: --tim
: P.S. If price is important and you want to go with Kevlar, take a look at
: Seda boats. They are modest in price but very nice. I have two of them (a
: Glider and a Tango) and am a very happy customer. I bought the Glider for
: racing, but have found its a great expedition kayak as well.
