: I am an experienced wilderness canoeist who is planning to purchase a touring
: kayak for use on big lakes in the north. I have paddled kayaks on several
: occasions, but have never owned one. I live in a fairly remote location in
: northern Manitoba, and will not be able to test-paddle before I buy.Even if you can't get the boat onto water for a test paddle, I strongly suggest you at least sit the boat in a showroom. Until you sit in one, you can't really know how the boat will feel for your specific body type and height. I had my eyes on several hulls two years ago when I bought my first one, and two were eliminated immedately when I sat in them. I'm 6'2" and most boats are made for more "average" people.
I have no experience with the boats you are looking at, so can't help there. I too am a life long canoeist, and have really enjoyed adding kayaking to my paddle sports. It is a great wy to get around under most of the wind. No more tacking the hull upwind when I'm out solo!
Enjoy, and good luck.
