I bet you'll get ton's of responces to your questions.
I am not familiar with the boats you listed, but I wanted to reply any way and correct one comment you made. Plastic boats are not more durable than glass boats. If its durability you want, then buy a kevlar boat.
Paddling without trying is risky, but I understand that sometimes there is not choice but to do so. Good luck.

P.S. If price is important and you want to go with Kevlar, take a look at Seda boats. They are modest in price but very nice. I have two of them (a Glider and a Tango) and am a very happy customer. I bought the Glider for racing, but have found its a great expedition kayak as well.
