A lot of pretty hi-tech suggestions! What about inflating a paddle float, putting it on one blade of your paddle, extending the float out at a right angle, and simply lowering yourself down on that side of the kayak. (I've used this technique to cool off on a hot day, but haven't tried it yet for other kinds of relief). Once down in the water, the float provides plenty of support and unless the water is rough, you only need one hand on the paddle shaft). Not good for cold water, but when its warm sounds preferable and easier than a lot of other means suggested.
