:As an ICU nurse, I can tell you the condom catheter, "Texas Cath" in nurse-speak, will work. It rarely will leak. Note the "self-adhesive" part. I'll bet I will hear your screams here in Kansas when you take it off. I quit using them on patients 'cause I took an oath to "do no harm".
Shawn: Have you considered a condom catheter and a bag? Check you local
: medical supply and explain what you have in mind.: I agree with your need to hydrate to manage long hauls, and being away from
: shore too far for a stop to be an option, what's a guy to do? I certainly
: don't look forward to the naturally-warmed wet-suit (or is it "wetted
: suit"?) either.: I purchased a condom cath.last fall, expecting to do a ten-hour shot on our
: local make-believe sea. The trip didn't materialize and I still have the
: equipment in my duffle bag awaiting its maiden voyage. The condom portion
: of the equipment is self adhesive and is supposed to be leak-proof. From
: the end of the condom section a piece of tubing about 30 inches long
: attaches to a plastic accumulating bag. The bag, on the other hand can be
: disconnected and emptied and then re-attached to the drain tube. I am
: assuming there will be enough room in my cockpit to accommodate the bag;
: I'm hoping puncturing the bag is not a likely event. Sounds like an
: astronaut-inspired solution, all in all.: Good luck!
