Nick, great post. I'm a euro paddler, but have enjoyed using a greenland paddle for rolling, playing etc. I'm fascinated by the Greenland influence and wish to learn more. While there are fundamentals to a good stroke, and I teach them, I get awfully bored with those who nit pick each others strokes. Usually they are the ones who are poor paddlers. To me a real world test of a paddler's stroke is simply can they survive several days in a row of 20-50 knot distances per day without getting hurt, in all types of seas. I bring this up because I know folks who can easily do so, yet might not have a texbook stroke. The opposite is also true. There exhists a rhealm where body type dictates a lot of things. Take care ya'll.
