Throw bag Tow line

: Without even looking at that, I came up with what I think is a reasonable
: solution. A $4 mesh bag and 50' of poly line, with a ski tow float. I tied
: one end of the line through the bottom of the bag. Just inside, I tied the
: float on, and a loop for a caribiner.Thats essentially a throw bag (which is now mandatory for kayaks in Canada..here come the Feds). It substitutes very well for a tow line, I keep a loop tied at about the halfway point of my line, and a biner permanently clipped to the line loop that sticks out of the bag. The throw bag is always on my rear deck, and very fast to deploy which is a real benefit when you need to grab someone in a hurry.
BTW I once towed a 18' powerboat about 200 yards to a dock when it ran out of gas ( and the boaters did not even have two paddles in the boat!!!) I simply said I needed the excercise. ( I clipped the bow line to my PFD strap with the biner I always keep close at hand..it gave pretty good boat control even with that much dead weight).
